Chief Operations Officer

The Mauritius Investment Corporation Ltd (MIC) is a private limited company having as objectives, amongst others, to support and accelerate the economic development of Mauritius and to build a savings base for the citizens of Mauritius.
The MIC invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Chief Operations Officer. The person will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the MIC.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should hold:
- Cambridge Higher School Certificate with three subjects at Principal Level at one and same sitting;
and - A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA and CIMA with at least seven (7) years relevant post qualification working experience.
OR
- A postgraduate degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Management/ Business Administration from a recognised university or any relevant qualification acceptable to the MIC, with at least seven (7) years relevant post qualification working experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the MIC’s financial operations and improve financial performance.
- Lead and drive the Finance and Administration function of the MIC, with a view to achieving the MIC’s objective.
- Direct, plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate the daily activities of the MIC.
- Develop budgets that meet the requirements of the MIC.
- Assist the Chief Executive Officer in the development and implementation of the MIC’s financial strategic planning by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws, guidelines and international standards.
- Implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure that the MIC’s assets are always safeguarded.
- Manage and supervise all issues and activities related to talent management, compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, succession planning, amongst others.
- Carry out human resource planning, forecast and make appropriate proposals taking into consideration the financial aspects to match human resource and other requirements in terms of number, roles and level of responsibilities based on the MIC’s needs.
- Establish and develop good coordination and working relations with all relevant internal and external parties for an efficient delivery of the MIC’s mandate.
- Perform such related duties as may be assigned.

- Ability to work under pressure and to think ‘out of the box’
TERMS AND REMUNERATION
The position is on a two-year contractual basis, with possibility to convert into permanent and pensionable establishment of the MIC.
